The 2009 Defense budget requests include:
 
  •        Maintains a highly trained fighting force of 2.2 million soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines;
  •          Recruits, trains and equips 65,000 additional active duty soldiers and 27,000 additional Marines    over five years;
  •          Provides pay increases of 3.4 percent for military members, improves benefits for the all-volunteer force, and increases pay 2.9 percent for the civilian workforce;
  •          Provides world-class health care for 9.2 million eligible Service members, families, and retirees;
  •          Procures and maintains an arsenal of the world’s most advanced weapon systems;
  •          Improves warfighting capabilities and invests in science and technology to maintain U.S. advantage over the Nation’s enemies;
  •          Maintains 545,000 facilities at 5,300 sites in the U.S. and around the globe; and
  •          Maintains vital intelligence capabilities.

September - 2010 - MV is still moving forward. Despite a few setbacks, we continue to move forward.  Todd MacKenzie came onboard as our composer and sound engineer.  We have completed our 3rd string out.  Little by little we move forward.  A lot more to come in the upcoming month!!!!  Stay tuned.  :)

Summer 2010 - Mental Valor is near the final stages of editing.  We head into sound in a few weeks, still working on our opening.
The film has already peaked quite a bit of interest, which certainly makes all of us proud and excited.  More details to follow as this endeavor progresses!!!

February - 2010 - Final Clearance from The Medal of Honor Society

November 2009 - January 2010 -
MV went international, shooting additional b-roll.

September, 2009 - A new Linked In group page was formed, "Films and Filmmakers who Support Our Troops." 
A great new site for all creative talents, sponsors and supporters to gather together to share resources and their crafts.  Be sure to check it out!

September, 2009 -
Ended the month with a fantastic radio broadcast on, "Your Military Life," with Phyllis Z. Miller and Nancy Brown.  Great ladies who kindly featured MV.

September, 2009 - GI Film Festival
brought their award winning documentaries to the Los Angeles area.  It was a great opportunity to see some amazing films, while making new friends and associates.  Event was held at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley.  A wonderful and exciting venue for the event. 

August and September, 2009
- Bit of a setback with reaffirming clearance details, video and photographs.  We want to make sure everything is properly covered before moving forward.  We also completed all our production during early September.

July, 2009 - Mental Valor has FINALLY added a feedback forum/message board.  Yes folks, it took me a while, but its up and running.  Please feel free to post your comments and thoughts.  (I have the right to edit inappropriate comments).

July, 2009, - Wonderful experience with GI Radio.  Ernie and Tom were just fantastic hosts.  Lots of great feedback on the film and our new teaser. 

July, 2009 - Film teaser is now online and on youtube.  Mental Valor will appear on GI Radio this Tuesday, July 7  Stay tuned!!!

June, 2009 - MV comes out with a new demo reel this weekend!  Thanks to MV special editor, Chris Hart, this reel will rock!!!  More to come...

June, 2009 - MV makes the paper in the United Kingdom.  Thanks for MV supporter and friend, Pat Silverton, MV has gotten great press and comments from our friends across the pond.  Pat has also forwarded additional photos which will be uploaded soon.

June, 2009 - MV hits the road for 3 weeks of location shooting.  We'll travel through the south, east and southeast US capturing amazing sites and interviews for the film.

June, 2009 - MV has two amazing voices who have donated their time and talent to our film.  Lexxi Saal and rock group, Blistur will be the soundtrack of our film!  Check them out on our "about us" section.

May, 2009 - MV got a great boost from our friend, Dave at "Thank A Soldier.net" Dave took the time to put a shout out to our military community!  Thanks Dave!!!

May, 2009 - Mental Valor had a very successful showing of our demo to the wonderful folks of Texas. 

May, 2009 - Mental Valor heads to Texas as Guest of Honor for Grateful Nation, one of the amazing non-profit organizations working to help our veterans and families.

May, 2009 - Editors Peter J. Clark and Dru Webb worked to put a short reel together about the film!  Go Pete and Dru!  MV interviewee, Ric Maddox is also a guest speaker.

April, 2009 - Production continues on various levels as MV continues editing.  We have acquired original music from the group, "Blistur," out of Jacksonville, FL...thanks guys, you rock on every level!  Interviews also continue, as MV gathers more voices of service personnel and support groups.  May is gearing up to be another busy month for the team, as MV has been invited as a guest of honor for a wonderful upcoming event...more to come.

March, 2009 - Mental Valor attends an amazingly powerful performance of a play created by director, Tony Savant.  "Welcome Home Soldier," takes a stark look into the actions of society towards returning servicemen of the Vietnam era. 

March, 2009 - Mental Valor meets another of our nation's supporters...the founder of Grateful Nation, a recently formed non-profit organization that seek to promote kindness and gratitude for our nation's  unsung "heroes."  

February, 2009 - Mental Valor meets with Dr. Harriet Zeiner,  a leading clinical neuropsychologist for poly trauma.  Dr. Zeiner spoke candidly about the effects of BTI.

February, 2009 - Mental Valor heads to DC for possible cable opportunities.  Filming also continues with an amazing array of first person accounts, in addition to a meeting with an expert in the field of BTI (Brain Trauma Injuries).  We've also updated our myspace film page, as well as created a Mental Valor group on Facebook...be sure to add us on both sites!!!!  ONWARD!

January, 2009 - Mental Valor starts up production again with the parents of Evan Ashcraft, an Army soldier who was killed in Iraq.  Jim and Jane Bright chose to honor their son by creating an amazing foundation, The Evan Ashcraft Foundation, which helps to provide psychological and education avenues for our troops and veterans. 

November, 2008 -
The Mental Valor crew meets with Dr. Judith Broder of The Soldier's Project.  a "non-profit, independent group of volunteer licensed mental health professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and marriage and family therapists. We provide free counseling and support to military service members who have served or who expect to serve in the Iraq and/or Afghanistan conflicts and to veterans of those conflicts."

October, 2008 - We are hitting the editing process, as Mental Valor begins our logging and coding process.  A great big thank you to Paula Van Doren and her husband Larry.  We are still securing additional interviews with various supportive projects.

September, 2008 - Production continues as "Mental Valor" begins the editing stage.

July, 2008 - Production continued in Texas at the 10th annual conference of MCEC.  Among our interviews were Sec. of Defense Robert Gates, 36th Chef of Staff - Army, General George Casey, Jr., pediatrician Major Keith Lemmon, MD,   Combatant Command US Africa, General William "Kip" Ward and the wonderful children of MCEC's S2S program, Korea. 
The conference allowed us great opportunities to meet and speak with some of our team leaders, including Dr. Mike Matthews of Division 19, Patty Shinseki of the LINN project and Dr. Mary Keller, Executive Director of MCEC. 


July, 2008 - MCEC has their annual conference set in Grapevine, Texas.  We will travel to meet with our leaders and team members, while acquiring new interviews and filming opportunities!!!!

June, 2008, Many thanks to Congressman Filner for a fantastic interview in his home turf of beautiful San Diego, CA.  We are also wish to thank Nora May and Amy Pond for their help in securing our interview with the Congressman.  The Congressman shared his passion for assisting our men and women in uniform...past, present and future!!! 

June, 2008 - Congressman Filner (D-CA) has agreed to another interview with us.  He represents the men and women of San Diego

June, 2008 - A disappointing setback, Congressman Bilbray (R-CA) has declined our interview request, stating that he did not wish to participate in the making of this documentary.  Congressman Bilbray represents a heavily military district of southern California.

May, 2008 - Shooting continues on the film, now focusing on acquiring personal interviews with Veterans from the Vietnam conflict.
